About Our Foundation

Our Mission

Our mission with the HHR Foal Foundation Makeover is to help rescue foals find a better future. We pair caring handlers with foals from kill pens or at-risk situations. Over four months, our handlers provide love, training, and basic care to these foals. By the end of the program, our goal is to make sure each foal is healthy and ready for a new, happy chapter in life.

Our goal is to educate handlers about the unwanted horse industry, providing them with valuable insights, tips, and tricks for training more challenging horses. We aim to create a nurturing environment where foals can receive the love and care they need, ultimately setting them up for new beginnings and happier futures. By doing so, we hope to raise awareness and create positive change within the industry.

Projects

Handlers apply with a written application and videos demonstrating their skills. We conduct video home checks to ensure foals receive the best care. Each pair attends a monthly clinic. After four months, they showcase their progress during the final event.

EDUCATION

Teaching the next generation

We provide information in both training techniques and proper care through

educational videos, books, and in-person. This program offers free private lessons as often as possible, as well as one-on-one training at our monthly clinics. Our hosts are on call 24/7 to support our handlers in care and training emergencies.

COMMUNITY

Providing networking opportunities

We invite guest speakers and clinicians to come offer outside perspectives on various topics such as nutrition, horsemanship, and industry experience to ensure a broad range of techniques and to help provide networking opportunities.

RESCUE

Healing foals inside and out

We strive to give these young horses new chances at life, because they are often failed previously. This program is designed to give them a second chance, on the first try, meaning they never truly had a chance to reach their potential because their lives have just started! Our handlers provide them that chance!
